How much does a billboard cost?
Billboard rates vary depending on the location, its view from the intended road, size, traffic and market.
How big are the billboards?
Most of Primary Media Outdoor’s billboards are 14 high by 48 feet long. 14 by 48 is the standard “bulletin” size. However, Primary Media Outdoor also has boards that are non-standard. Please contact us for other billboard sizes and their locations.
How do I rent a billboard?
Billboards are rented by the month. The standard contract lengths are Three to twelve months. Shorter terms can be quoted upon request. Most rates are based on having the advertiser rent the board on the available date.
How can I find out when Primary Media Outdoor has billboards available?
Contact us for availability dates. Some of our locations are occupied long term and some are available soon Primary Media Outdoor does need to check with existing advertisers regarding their intentions to renew their contract (about 90 days in advance).
Are the billboards illuminated at night?
All of Primary Media Outdoor’s billboards are illuminated from one half hour before sunset to 12:00 A.M., using the most state of the art lighting. An illuminated billboard becomes even more visible at night.
Who provides the creative artwork for the billboards?
Artwork is provided by the advertiser or advertiser’s agency approximately thirty (30) days prior to the display start date. Art designs are not included in the space rate but can be arranged for an additional charge.
Does Primary Media Outdoor provide the display material?
Displays are produced on vinyl material. The display material is not included in the space rate. There is a net charge of $2.25 per square foot to produce the display.
What is required when submitting artwork to Primary Media Outdoor for execution?
Primary Media Outdoor requires camera ready, scaled artwork. A scale of ½”=1′, 3/8″=1′, or ¼”=1′ is fine. Photographs should be the highest resolution possible (hopefully 300 d.p.i.) or, if an electronic photo, the best .eps or .tif possible. What is a cut-out or extension?
Extensions are embellishments that extend beyond the basic shape of the billboard face. They increase the impact of bulletins. Extensions can be added at a one-time charge for installation/fabrication and with a monthly maintenance charge. The extra space charge is comparable to print media foldouts or inserts.
How big can a cut-out extension be and how much does it cost?
Cut outs can be 5 ½ feet above the top of the board and 2 feet on the bottom and sides. Cut outs are charged to the customer at $24 (Net) per square foot for fabrication and are the property of Primary Media.
Does Primary Media Outdoor execute special effects?
Primary Media Outdoor can execute special effects such as 3D, inflatables, reflectors and mannequins. These special effects are quoted upon request on an individual basis.
Can Primary Media Outdoor hold my display vinyl for later use?
Primary Media Outdoor can hold the display material for a monthly charge of $35 per vinyl. Primary Media is not responsible for vinyls stored longer than 150 days.
Can I have Primary Media Outdoor install my vinyl, or re-install and old vinyl?
Primary Media Outdoor can install vinyl displays on its locations. The net cost to the customer is $1.40 per square foot.
Can I cancel a contract once I have begun using a billboard?
Primary Media Outdoor’s standard contract does not allow for cancellation. Advertisers can check with management about writing a contract with a cancellation clause. Most cancellation clauses include a short rate charge and 90 days written notice.

One place to find additional billboard information is oaaa.org, the website of the Outdoor Advertising Association of America. It has information on all forms of outdoor advertising and studies of the effectiveness of outdoor advertising. This site also has a creative library that may show samples of billboards relevant to your business.
