Southern California

Southern California – San Diego

With its perpetual sunshine mixed with the warm sea breezes, and its world famous beaches, it’s no wonder San Diego is one of the most desirable places to live and visit in Southern California. Its small town feel with big city conveniences causes all who know the city to love it. San Diego County is home to 53 cities and 2.8 million people. San Diego is around the size of the state of Connecticut, the region stretches east into the mountain empire and down to the immense Anza Borrego Desert State Park. San Diego County is ranked as the 2nd largest city in California with the 16th largest population of all metropolitan cities in America. It’s no wonder Forbes Magazine recently ranked San Diego as being the 6th best place to live in the United States.

San Diego is continuously being recognized as a leader in the field of technology. Ranked as California’s third strongest region for technology firms, San Diego is also considered one of the top five cities in the west with whom to do business according to Entrepreneur Magazine. San Diego is also one of the top leaders in biotechnology, with UCSD at La Jolla as a world leader in biotechnology research and technology. Top employers of San Diegoans include, the Navy, UCSD, technology companies, and tourism businesses.

San Diego’s major tourism industry is due to such enjoyable attractions as: the world famous San Diego Zoo, Sea World, Old Town (the historic tribute to Mexican heritage), Seaport Village, the historic Gaslamp Quarter, Del Mar Racetrack, and some of the best beaches in the world. San Diego is located in a prime area of Southern California in between Los Angeles and Mexico. Many visitors to San Diego take the opportunity to travel 30 minutes further from downtown San Diego to Tijuana, as Tijuana is the entrance to California’s Baja Coast and the northern most city of Mexico.
